8am IQ currently utilizes a Large Language Model (LLM) provided by OpenAI and accessed via their API platform.

8am IQ does not use the consumer version of ChatGPT, but rather OpenAI’s API platform. Based on their terms with OpenAI, your data is safe and will not be used to train OpenAI models. The free consumer version of ChatGPT may use inputs to train the model.

You remain in control. Your data is not sent to a LLM unless you agree to try out the feature and click an 8am IQ icon or button each time you want to send specified data. You control whether this includes personal data. Law firms should use discretion—OpenAI terms prohibit transmission of sensitive health information or personal data about minors under 13.

8am encrypts data in transit using TLS 1.2+ and at rest via AES‑256. Both 8am and OpenAI are SOC 2 compliant. No customer data is used to train OpenAI models or exposed to other 8am customers. OpenAI may store data for up to 30 days before deletion. 8am enforces user permissions so 8am IQ can only access data users already have rights to view.

The beta version only supports pre‑configured, task‑specific prompts to improve accuracy. Outputs may still be misleading or inaccurate; users are advised to carefully review all output before relying on it. As additional features are added, 8am continues to invest in reducing hallucinations more than generalized GenAI tools like ChatGPT.
