8am IQ is a suite of AI assistants built directly into 8am legal practice management software. It includes Case Assistant for searching and analyzing case data, Discovery Assistant for converting scanned documents into searchable text, Document Assistant for extracting key details from legal documents, Writing Assistant for drafting and refining case communications, and Finance Assistant (coming soon) for firm financial insights. Because 8am IQ is embedded in the tools your firm already uses MyCase, DocketWise, and CasePeer there’s no context switching, no uploading files to external tools, and no risk of exposing client data outside your secure environment.

8am IQ is available in MyCase, DocketWise, and CasePeer, with feature availability varying by subscription tier. MyCase Advanced includes all assistants: Case Assistant, Discovery Assistant, Document Assistant, and Writing Assistant. MyCase Pro includes Case, Writing, and Document Assistants. DocketWise Pro and Advanced include Writing and Document Assistants. CasePeer Pro and Advanced include Writing Assistant. Finance Assistant will be available across supported tiers following its launch.

Case Assistant lets you ask questions across your full case record including documents, notes, events, messages, SMS, call logs, and  case fields and get answers with citations traced back to their source. 

Common use cases include finding specific facts buried in case files, generating case status updates, creating summaries for internal handoffs or client communication, and drafting correspondence with case context. Every response includes links back to the source data so you can verify before you act.

Discovery Assistant brings image-to-text OCR directly into MyCase, making scanned documents and image-based files instantly searchable without a separate tool or manual process. 

Scanned documents and image files were previously invisible to search and to 8am IQ, unless they had been processed with an OCR tool. With Discovery Assistant, every PDF, JPG, PNG, and TIFF file uploaded to MyCase is automatically converted to searchable text. 

This means more complete search results, stronger Case Assistant insights, and a fuller picture of every case. Discovery Assistant is included with MyCase Advanced subscriptions.

These safeguards extend to 8am IQ. 8am enforces user permissions so 8am IQ can only access data users already have rights to view. Based on our terms with third party providers, our customers’ data will not be used to train any third-party models.

Our 8am IQ offerings do not train third-party AI models, but we may use inputs and outputs to develop and improve our products in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the security standards described above. Pages: 5,000 pages per user per month, pooled at the firm level, so your firm's total monthly page allowance is shared across all users

File size: Individual files must be 300 MB or smaller to be processed

Yes, 8am IQ honors existing permissions such that a user will not be able to use 8am IQ for any items within MyCase that they cannot already access. Learn more about user permissions.

8am IQ utilizes a robust set of proprietary evaluation metrics to measure and monitor accuracy and hallucination detection. We also utilize several pre-configured prompts that are customized for specific tasks to increase the likelihood of accurate responses.8am IQ only supports pre-configured prompts that are customized for each specific task. These increase the likelihood of an accurate response. Even with these steps, the outputs from 8am IQ may sometimes be misleading or inaccurate, and we recommend that you carefully review all output prior to any use or reliance on it.

As we add additional features to 8am IQ, we will continue to make investments in developing and testing 8am IQ to be less susceptible to inaccurate responses or hallucinations than other generalized GenAI interfaces that lack legal domain expertise, like ChatGPT.
