Challenge
Elliott Immigration Law needed a payment solution built for legal workflows. Previous providers lacked the integrations and reporting the firm needed, making reconciliation time-consuming and creating unnecessary administrative work.
Based in Atlanta, Georgia, Elliott Immigration Law helps individuals and families across the U.S. navigate immigration matters. Founded in 2011 by managing partner Erin Elliott, the firm focuses on family, employment, and business immigration, as well as naturalization and citizenship services.
Company: Elliott Immigration Law
Simplified online payments for clients across the country
Improved payment tracking and reconciliation
Reduced time spent on billing and administrative work
Elliott Immigration Law has accepted online payments from the very beginning.
“Everybody wants to pay by credit card now,” says Erin Elliott, founder and managing partner. “I can’t imagine not offering online payments in this day and age.”
Though the firm had used payment providers before, they were simply not meeting their needs.
“We worked with about two or three providers,” she says. “But we realized pretty quickly that we needed to work with someone geared toward the legal industry.”
Following recommendations from the State Bar of Georgia and the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the firm turned to 8am LawPay.
Right away, Erin liked that LawPay worked seamlessly with her firm’s existing software.
After implementing LawPay, Elliott Immigration Law created a smoother and more flexible payment experience for clients. Because the firm serves individuals and families across the country, offering multiple ways to pay was especially important.
“Our clients can pay through email, on our website, or through an invoice,” Erin says.
Today, most of the firm’s payments happen digitally rather than in person.
“I would say about 75% of our payments are taken online. The remaining 25% are swiped in our office,” she says.
That flexibility helps remove friction for clients navigating an already stressful process.
Reconciliation had long been one of the most frustrating parts of managing the firm’s billing process.
“I really had a hard time reconciling payments,” Erin says. “Now, each payment is attached to a specific client and matter, so it takes me a lot less time.”
LawPay’s reporting features also give Erin a better view of her firm’s payment data.
“I’m able to look in one place and see what’s been paid, what’s outstanding, and how many hours have been billed. That’s easy for us.” The time savings have made a meaningful difference in Erin’s day-to-day work.
With LawPay, Elliott Immigration Law streamlined online payments, simplified reconciliation, and created a more convenient billing experience for both clients and staff.
