Key takeaways

  • Eliminated paper billing and manual payment handling

  • Reduced time spent on administrative tasks and bank visits

  • Enabled clients to pay quickly and securely from anywhere

A remote-first practice from the start

Long before remote work became the norm, John Rossi had already built his firm around it.

“My practice has been a paperless practice for years now,” he explains. “I've found in Boston, people would prefer not to have to drive into the city. So I've been meeting with people remotely and outside of the office for many years.”

As his practice evolved, he saw how much time traditional processes were taking.

“Paper is something that I consider just an expense and a time waster. Especially as a small business, you spend [time] going to the post office, putting mail into envelopes…maybe scanning it. That stuff is just a big waste of time.”

Faster payments, no extra steps

Before LawPay, getting paid meant waiting.

“A client mails you a check…then you go to the bank, stand in line, deposit the check, and wait a day or two or three for it to clear.”

To move away from checks and in-person deposits, John adopted online payments with LawPay.

“I think I opened up my first LawPay account probably six or seven years ago. I can use it any time of the day or night. My clients can pay me from the comfort of their home, and they don't have to worry about mailing.” — John Rossi, Founder

Now, with LawPay, billing has become effortless. John receives immediate confirmation when payments are completed, with transactions automatically recorded.

“You get an email from LawPay saying client Smith just paid you a hundred dollars, and it's already entered into your ledger, it's already entered into your client file,” he says.

A practice without paper or friction

LawPay fits naturally into John’s fully digital workflow, eliminating the last manual steps.

“I sold my filing cabinets a few years ago and the bookshelves,” he says. “Now you're talking a few clicks of the mouse to do what used to take you a half hour to one hour to do. It adds up.”

By removing paper, bank visits, and manual tracking, John has built a practice that runs faster and with less effort.

“You don't have to put your coat on. You don't have to go down to the bank and stand in line. I don't even have to open an envelope. What could be better than that?”
